GLAD Hotel is the first member hotel of ‘Design Hotels’ in Seoul. GLAD Hotel Yeouido is conveniently located right outside of Exit 4 of National Assembly Subway Station (Line 9) and offers a 24-hour access fitness centre. Property-wide WiFi access and on-site parking are available for free. Featuring a minibar, each room is fitted with a work desk, seating area and 42 inch LED TV with cable and satellite channels. Private bathroom comes with Kudos bathroom amenities. 24-hour front desk and free shuttle services are available at GLAD Hotel Yeouido. From the hotel, Korean National Assembly Complex is a 5-minute walk and IFC Mall is a 15-minute walk away. The hotel is a 25-minute drive from Gimpo Airport and a 50-minute drive from Incheon International Airport. In the glimmering skyscraper-filled district of Yeouido, aptly nicknamed Seoul’s Manhattan, GLAD Hotel Yeouido is already turning things on its head. The hotel’s facade, with its unusual brick pattern, at once stands out from its neighbors’ modernist glass buildings. Bricks have also been wittily used in the hotel’s interiors. And to create an “on the street” experience, street signs help guide you home to your room. Thanks to an honest approach to design, rooms are cozy and practical with no hidden or confusing features, and the hotel’s Greets restaurant and cafe revels in natural materials and pure forms. Bar Mark T, inspired by Mark Twain’s favorite tipple, serves up the city’s most extensive and unique collection of Single Malt Whiskey. The cozy rooms feature practical open shelving for storage, desk space, and even a lounge sofa for relaxing. High quality natural materials give the spaces a sense of calm and warmth. Posters in each room play on the hotel’s ‘glad’ motif with amusing quotes from renowned thinkers such as Eleanor Roosevelt and Shakespeare. A local type of brick was chosen as the dominant structural material to give GLAD Hotel Yeouido the warmth and soul of a traditional South Korean home. But thanks to award-winning Joh & Company’s singular vision, the bricks are expressed throughout the property in unique stacking patterns. The brutalist-interiors are rendered light thanks to a playful use of the material, giving depth and texture to the lobby. The hotel also adheres to the national environment-friendly standard and proudly uses geothermal energy.
